#forever headcanon that sulu is now 100% incapable of going to warp without checking the external inertial dampeners like seven times #only he doesn’t call them that anymore and he doesn’t call them the parking break either #in his own head the external inertial dampeners are referred to as ‘THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS’ #like that one feature on your car that has busted on you like six times #or that program you have to run on your computer every once in awhile that ALWAYS crashes it #or whatever else that non-sentient thing in your life that has frustrated you so many times that it doesn’t even have a real name in your head anymore #it’s just THAT MOTHERFUCKING THING YOU HATE #because that moment with pike and spock and the external intertial dampeners #sulu is never going to get over that #in 50 years when he’s long since been a famous federation hero #when kids have been buying hikaru sulu action figures for decades #and there’s a bigass statue of him in his hometown #the whole enterprise crew is going to meet up for dinner #elderly and so comfortable with each other that anything is fair game #and someone is going to be like ‘remember that time hikaru forget to turn off the parking break?’ and everyone will laugh #except sulu. #because he will still. not. be over it.

So I worked overnight in Toontown for Disneyland’s 24-hour day, and I had a blast. I had a really great crew and it wasn’t really all that busy.

But I got home around 8 am and then only slept for like maybe an hour and a half, so I’m in no condition to do, like, anything.

Watson came out to the living room, where I was laying on the floor, watching Skyfall, and asked me if I wanted to go on a run with her.

My response?

Uncontrollable laughter.

This is difficult to do—it is difficult to remember that people with lives different and distant from your own even celebrate birthdays, let alone with gifts of graffitied plywood.
